“All most like falling in love again!”
As with most hearing impaired people, my husband (Erland) believed he really didn’t have a problem, with many reasons why he wasn’t catching what was going on around him – “background noise,” “too soft a voice” “really wasn’t paying attention when you spoke,” “don’t need a hearing aid, as it wouldn’t work anyway,” “watched my mother struggle with a hearing aid and I don’t want to do the same,” and on and on.
Patience on my part paid off as I felt it was pointless to urge him to have his hearing checked, knowing it needed to become his idea! As the family observed gradual inattention at gatherings, a decrease in conversations and sharing humor, wanting to leave social functions earlier and earlier, we were aware that Erland’s hearing was, indeed, in need of some help. Then, a church friend (Kit Long) happily showed him her new hearing aids and the two of them engaged in quite a chat, much to my delight, and definitely not a set-up on my part. She was sold on Sandra’s expertise and professionalism, and recommended a visit to Hearing Solutions. The next day he made an appointment, and the rest has been just wonderful. I likened it to “almost like falling in love again!” I felt we had him back with us, he has been happier and more involved in conversations once again, and we are very happy.
Thank you, Sandra and Hearing Solutions, for your amazing help.
“I have never heard the music in all of it’s dynamic range as I can now.”
My daughter had been after me for about 8 years to get my hearing checked and get hearing aids. I was reluctant to do so for a long time. When my sister was out here visiting had difficulty communicating with her and my nieces when we went out for dinner at a restaurant. They all got on my case to get my hearing checked.
My niece, who also wears hearing aids, recommended that I see Sandra Souza at Hearing Solutions. I made an appointment and met Sandra. After telling her about my hearing loss which I believe was caused by industrial shipboard noise dating back to the 1970’s and 1980’s, she gave me a hearing test. I miserably failed the word recognition test. That clinched it; I knew that it was time to get hearing aids.
Wow, I can hear again! I now have the new hearing aids that Sandra recommended, which are tuned to increase the volume of the frequencies that I have been missing all of these years. I can now hold a conversion with my daughter and son-in-law and I can hear every word. My response timing has improved and my part of the conversion is on target, not off in left field as before without the hearing aids.
Another big improvement is in listening to music. I have a big library of music CDs and 4-track reel-to-reel pre-recorded tapes. I have never heard the music in all of it’s dynamic range as I can now.
What a pleasure it is to be able to hold a conversion in a restaurant and not be bothered by all the background noise and other conversions going on around me. I am very happy that Sandra has helped me to regain my hearing.
Well, this time it worked!
I had all the symptoms – difficulty comprehending the softer voices coming from the movie and TV screens, asking people to repeat themselves, giving up trying to hear soft music and conversation while driving my car. Even though my hearing loss was basically only in the higher frequencies, it was enough to bother me – and others. I had tried other hearing devices in the past, but they really didn’t help much. It wasn’t until I responded to Sandy’s ad and went through her very thorough hearing education process that I decided to try one more time. Well, this time it worked! I’m able to actually adjust my hearing aids to account for different environments— from a quiet room to a rumbly automobile — all with merely a push of a button on these tiny devices in my ears. Sandy keeps checking periodically to ensure that I’m still satisfied. I’m actually looking forward to my appointments!
“My life is now free of “huh?”
I recently moved to the Central Coast. One of my concerns was finding a hearing aid center that would work with me, as I was considering replacing my hearing aid. At the recommendation of an E.N.T. Specialist, I visited Sandy Souza at Hearing Solutions in SLO. Upon my first visit I knew I had made the right choice. Following a very thorough hearing aid test and examination, we discussed various choices of hearing aids. I made a selection and was given the opportunity to give it a try. After two weeks it just wasn’t what would work best for me. Without hesitation Sandy made a recommendation for a different style and manufacturer. The second time around it was a take. Sandy’s thoroughness, skill level, friendliness and professionalism were a great benefit in receiving the correct hearing aid for me. My life is now free of “huh?”
“I’ve never been so happy in my life, now that I can finally hear!”
I had a hearing problem, that I felt wasn’t too bad. But my wife kept telling me I needed hearing aids because she always had to repeat herself. And she said I didn’t always understand the conversations. So she would have to listen for me to make sure I understood other people correctly.
I was in the Marigold Shopping Center and stopped by to see Sandy at Hearing Solutions. What a difference it makes with my new hearing aids. For the first time, I’m able to hear my wife call me when we’re outside in the yard. I can even hear my car radio when I have my window rolled down!
As I told Sandy, “I’ve never been so happy in my life, now that I can finally hear!”
